The largest as well as the most populous continents in the world – Asia is a land of diversity with a multitude of geographies, cultures, and people. Occupying an area of about 9% of the total area of the earth’s surface, Asia is home to more than five billion people.

In other words, Asia consists of more than 60% of the world’s overall population. As a tourist destination, Asia boasts of a feast of attractions in the form of traditional cities, ancient monuments with superb architecture, museums and art galleries that throw light on the history of the place, incredible wild life, scenic mind blowing attractions, and attractions that are a blend of both east and west.

There are also a range of vibrant attractions, covering action packed beaches, bargain shopping areas, and exuberant nightclubs. Equally remarkable is the sumptuous cuisines available here, each of which is a representation of different cultures. In fact, the world’s majority of tourist attractions are found in Asia. Discussed further in this article are some of the most popular tourist attractions in Asia.

The continent of Asia is home to such incredible destinations as India, China, Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Sri Lanka, and Philippines. Asia has such a great number of attractions that even a year is not enough to explore them all. For those who want to explore a range of rich culture and topography and at the same time interested in recreational pursuits, then one of the most suitable options would be to take a tour to India. Stunning beaches, gorgeous monuments, ancient temples, and lively cities, all sum up the attractions of India. Attractions, among many others, in India are Red Fort and Qutab Minar in Delhi, Taj Mahal, one of the world’s seven wonders, Khajuraho Temples in Madhya Pradesh, Elephanta Caves in Mumbai, Ajanta and Ellora Caves in Aurangabad, and Kerala’s backwaters.

For those interested in exploring the pristine beauty as well as the ancient wonders, perhaps the greatest of all attractions in Asia would be China, which boasts of such lively destinations as Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Beijing, all of with loads of mind blowing attractions. Most popular among the attractions in China are the Great Wall, the Forbidden City, Terracotta Warriors, Potala Palace, West Lake, and Mogao Grottos. Another much sought after tourist destination in Asia is Japan, which is acknowledged as the Land of the Rising Sun. It features attractions such as Nara Park, Kyoto’s Higashiyama area, Kin Osaki, Himeji Castle, and Takayama in Gifu. With attractions such as Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam is also an incredible spot in Asia.

Popular countries in Asia also include the Kingdom of Thailand, which is probably the number one tourist destination in South-East Asia. What that set apart Thailand from other spots in Asia is its breathtaking natural beauty, stunning temples, gorgeous island destinations, stupendous monuments, healthy cuisines, and above all presence of amicable Thai people.

Just few among many of the attractions in Thailand are Bangkok, the capital city; Ayutthaya, which is much famed for its Gothic ruins; Chiang-Mai, bestowed with the title ‘Rose of the North,’ Krabi, which is a paradise for enjoying a range of water sport activities; and Pattaya, one of the best resorts in Asia. Also, a tourist spot in South-East Asia is Singapore, which is an island destination situated at the Malay Peninsula’s southern tip. Why America is worried about China

Since the end of the Cold War, the USA has been the dominant power in the world. However, this dominance may soon be challenged. The two nations which appear best poised to do so are China and Russia. However, China is a greater concern for three reasons: China has a much larger population than Russia, China is exporting goods to the USA at an unprecedented rate, and China is known to have a very large espionage network eager to steal American military and trade secrets.

China’s large population represents a huge labour pool. This translates into economic power. As a result, China’s economy has experienced tremendous growth. Along with the tremendous growth in the Chinese economy is a very large army which will become even more powerful in the future. China has regained Hong Kong and aims to take control of Taiwan. The USA must be very careful with the issue of Taiwan because the fact is that although it adheres to a strict “One China Policy”, the USA is Taiwan’s largest trading partner.

Along with China’s great population is a territory which is the third largest in the world, only behind Russia and Canada. Although China has the largest population in the world, it is important to note that many of the western regions are relatively uninhabited. As a result, many natural resources may yet be mined there. As for Tibet, this territory is not only a tourist attraction, but also useful for nuclear testing. It is no secret that China wishes to improve its arsenal of nuclear weapons.

The amount of goods which China now exports to the USA is higher than ever. In fact, the USA has a trade loss with China because American exports to China are significantly lower than are Chinese exports to the USA. Though recent scandals have damaged the reputation of Chinese goods, Chinese labour costs are so low that multinational corporations will continue to use China to manufacture their goods. Also, the USA will continue to import Chinese goods at an unprecedented rate because the USA wants its exporters to gain increased access to the huge and lucrative Chinese market in return.

In the area of espionage, Canada’s former Minister of External Affairs Peter MacKay once angered the Chinese government when he claimed that China had a large espionage network operating within Canada with the intent of stealing industrial and trade secrets. Though the comments surprised few experts in Canada-China relations, the surprise was that Peter MacKay made the claim publicly. However, China’s espionage network is certainly not restricted to Canada. It is extensive and also intent on stealing as many American trade and military secrets as possible.

China’s booming economy, extensive espionage network, huge military, and desire to both modernize and increase its arsenal of nuclear weapons are matters of grave concern to the USA. Other serious issues are China’s control of Hong Kong and desire to assert full control over Taiwan. The Chinese government appears intent to become the world’s next superpower and overtake the USA in the process. Though the USA and its allies are doing everything in their power to prevent this, China’s ambitions are nevertheless very worrisome.

What is Wu long Tea?

The Wu long (also referred to as oolong) family of teas is characterized by a partial oxidation process that is controllable by varying degrees of heat. Wu long tea has the benefits and taste of both Green Tea and the fully oxidized Black Tea.

Although a number of countries now produce Wu long tea, China is the largest and best known producer.

Since one of the characteristics of Wu long tea is partial oxidation, Wu long teas offer a wide variety of flavors depending on the degree of oxidation. Oxidation is the key element in the definition of tea since all teas come from the Camellia Sinensis plant.

Wu Long Tea is a semi-oxidized tea, occupying the middle ground between Green and Black teas. Combining the best qualities of Green tea and Black tea, Wu Long Tea is not only as clear and fragrant as Green Tea, but also as fresh and strong as Black Tea. If you drink Wu Long Tea, the natural aroma may linger in your mouth and make your throat comfortable.

Wu Long Tea is helpful in anti aging, bringing high blood pressure down, improving the immune system, and controlling cholesterol. Wu Long Tea can help you digest food, refresh yourself and return to sobriety. It is also helpful in prolonging your lifespan.

Chinese Wu long Teas also differ somewhat from other teas as regards the Chinese manufacturing process. Whole leaf Wu longs are often partially manufactured in private homes before final finishing and blending in larger factories.

Although consolidation of the industry has resulted in concentration of the business in larger firms a cottage industry still exists in the Chinese production of Wu long Tea.

In China, high quality Wu long Tea came from three traditional tea producing areas: Northern Guangdong (The Phoenix line), Southern Fujian (the Teguanyian line) and Western Fujian (the Wuyi line). Taiwan and India are also producers of fine Wu long tea.

Fine Wu long teas are very popular with tea drinkers and connoisseurs all over the world for their broad spectrum of taste offerings and for their ease of infusion. In the tea producer areas of China and in Hong Kong and Taiwan (all places where tea drinkers take the tea ceremony seriously) Wu long sets the standard for a quality tea experience,

Benefits of Drinking Wu Long Tea

• Benefit of Good taste

The bottom line for any tea drinker is the taste of the tea and the feeling of wellness and serenity drinking the tea provides. Wu long Tea is provides a smooth subtle taste that encourages the serene feeling of wellness that quality tea provides.

Wu long Tea has an additional advantage in that it has a broad spectrum of oxidation and this provides a variety of tastes that the tea drinker can enjoy. Some Wu longs fare lighter in flavor based upon only slight oxidation and some are more robust depending upon greater amounts of oxidation.

When you combine the quality of Wu long Tea with taste variety the benefit is a tea that appeals to a large number of tea drinkers.

• Benefit of a Sense of Well Being

Tea provides one benefit to drinkers that no other beverage can produce.

That feeling is a sense of well being and serenity that is naturally produced. Compared to coffee or soft drinks that contain significant levels of caffeine, sugars and other chemical substances, tea creates a drink that calms and soothes the drinker. Tea is ideal to start and end a busy day.

It is an interesting fact that most of the best spas in the country rely on tea as the chosen beverage.

• Benefit of Weight Loss

Due to a combination of light caffeine , anti-oxidants and polyphenols, Wu long Tea Increases energy expenditure by 10% and it accelerates metabolism required to loose weight. Wu long Tea also regulates blood sugar levels for diabetics. The tea burns 2.5 times more calories than Green Tea and is ideal for weight loss.

Drinking Wu long Tea reduces plaque in the arteries, lowers cholesterol and produces slimming effects. It also stimulates fat reduction because the polyphenols in Wu-Long tea is effective in controlling body fat. It activates the enzyme that is responsible for dissolving triglyceride.

Wu long tea eliminates the fattening effects of carbohydrates: Eating too many carbohydrates causes weight gain by increasing insulin levels. Wu long Tea can suppress lipid metabolism which has the effect of suppressing fatty accumulation and body weight increases.

• Benefit of Improved Health

Health-promoting compounds such as polyphenols and catechins are present in all types of tea, but hand picked Wu long Tea is the best source. This means that the tea drinker can maintain a healthy lifestyle with every cup.

Free radicals are damaging substances in your body. Wu Long Tea contains high amounts of anti-oxidants that reduce effect of free radicals and. helps reverse signs of aging.

Wu long Tea also helps strengthen your Immune system. Wu-Long Tea drinkers were found to have a stronger immune system and a significantly lower risk for infections such as the common cold.

• Benefit of Quality…

High quality Wu long Teas generally contain only the highest quality pluckings from such tea growing areas like the high mountain grown tea leaves grown in the famous Wuyi mountain range in China. The benefits to the tea drinker are good health and the feeling of well being only quality tea affords.

Loose leaf Wu long Tea is processed by the “orthodox” method – no fannings, dust, broken leaves or twigs often found in bagged tea are ever included in loose leaf Wu long Teas.

Some quality tea suppliers cup every imported shipment. Tea drinkers benefit from these suppliers because they are guaranteed consistency.

• Benefit of Value

Value is created by high quality at a good price. Understanding the cost per cup of loose leaf tea is important because loose leaf tea competes favorably in price with bagged tea.

When compared to tea bags the value of loose leaf tea is readily apparent. Bags use broken tea leaves, fannings and dust because they infuse quicker but sacrifice quality. In terms of cost, a significant portion of the tea bag product is involved in bagging the tea and providing packaging for the bagged product.

With loose leaf tea one gets the high quality of plucked leaves without the costs associated with bagging.

Hidden surfing towns: Best places to avoid the crowd

To find a nice place, away from obtrusive eyes is all about to know where to look at. There are plenty of nice beaches, difficult ones or for beginners all round the world. It all depends on what you are looking for and where.

In the U.S. where surfing is more spread than other continents is way more difficult to find secret beaches to surf. Horseshoe Beach at La Jolla, California sims like a good one to escape from crowd. On the East side there is Napeague State Park in Long Island, NY. Between (the most known) Montauk and Amagansett lays that quiet beach perfect for fishing, family shore holidays and, of course, surfing. If you find yourself in Hawaii, overwhelmed of surfers at a summer holiday try avoiding crowding at Red Sand Beach at Hana, Maui. Its near Hana Beach Park and due to the morphology of the ground it remains quite secret by now.

If your traveling outside for leisure there is a variety of beaches depending on your needs.

In Central America the journey begins in Mexico. Crowded beaches with guys lineup for a wave is not what happenig in Troncones, a small fishing village about 20 miles north of Zihuatanejo on Mexico’s Pacific Coast. Taking the plane to Costa Rica for surfing is something that will worth it. But do not take the bite for the very famous Salsa Brava and Isla Uvita. Take the Costa Rican shore along the sea in Puerto Viejo and other laid back villages nearby and you will not miss.

In Asia there are many well known locations and tourists attractions. In Bali, for example, you can find famous beaches. There are also hidden little gems, like Dreamland, Bingin, Impossibles and Padang Padang. You spot them on the south division of Bali on the map. Big Wave Bay in Hong Kong may be an unknown destination but in July and August, when the typhoons hitting, it rises 16-18 foot waves. The last one is recommended for experienced surfers.

If you intend to travel to Europe, you can visit some famous locations and quite unknown within the surfer’s community in France, Spain, Portugal and Greece. Ile de Re and Ile d’Oleron are quite nice beaches on the border of France and Spain. Wonderful beaches in Greece that suits surfers the most are Ai-Gordi, in Corfu and Karadavos in Kefallonia.

As I referred, the choice of the surfer depends on skill, finance balance and of course his personal taste. I’m sure that in the end wherever you find yourself you will descover new and unusual places to ride waves. The beauty of the shores is never enough for anyone.

Hotel reviews: The Boathouse Hotel, Phuket, Thailand

Siam as it was once known is a country which is lush and green when you leave the city.

There is so much to offer the tourist, its rich culture and history indulges your mind and takes over your soul.

The Bangkok traffic is bad, rush hour lasts hours and daily commuters leave as early as 5am to get to work for 8.

The shops on the other side of the road look inviting but to cross the road here is to take your life in your own hands. I was surprised to see the familiar Zebra crossing marked on the road for the cars to give pedestrians the right of way, but soon realised this was just tarmac decoration a new modern art purely for decoration and nothing more.

I visited the wonderful sights of the Grand Palace, the filming of the original King and I was filmed there, the amount of gold is astounding and the Jewelled encrusted spier’s a work of art.

After a few hours getting my bearings I asked at reception about seeing some local Thai Classical Dancing, I was given the price and details which included a meal so I went along with my camera to see some Thai culture.

The costumers were hand made with silk and gold thread and the head dresses worn were covered in glittering jewels and gold.

The Thai people are a very gentle race, their smile and calm disposition is welcoming and warm.

It was soon time to leave Bangkok and make my way to the airport for the 1 hours flight to Phuket.

On arrival to Phuket I waited for my guide to take me to the hotel, it is about 1 hour away.

I first discovered this paradise in the late 80’s I had been travelling the far east for a couple of weeks, Singapore, Bangkok, Hong Kong and was all shopped out.

I had been talking to other travellers who told me the best beach in Phuket was Kata Beach and there was a hotel there called The Boathouse, at that time there were only 2 hotels sharing the beautiful beach, it needed me to explore it and hopefully add it to me best beaches list.

When I reached the hotel it was late at night so went to my room and went to bed. The following morning I went to find some breakfast, the hotel is open plan as I walked to the dinning area the view was stunning, the hotel was directly on the beach the view of the sea and limestone rocks was breathtaking, I knew then I had found something special.

This boutique hotel only has 36 rooms decorated beautifully, the food is top class and the idyllic setting makes this hotel a tranquil haven a place to unwind your mind, body and soul.

This hotel is full most of the time, on two occasions I have recognised previous guests who stay there for 3 months at a time.

After a hectic shopping trip it is the ideal location this is a little piece of heaven on the shores of Kata Beach

China Premium to Distribute Alfa Romeo in Hong Kong and Macau

    December 13, 2009 by admin

The China Premium Lifestyle Enterprise recently reported that they have entered into a letter of intent with Wo Kee Hong Group to have the exclusive right to distribute Alfa Romeo vehicles in Hong Kong and Macau. The announcement was made after Wo Kee Hong Group was given the green light to sell Alfa Romeos in Hong Kong and Macau.

The approval came from Alfa Romeo, Turin, Italy and is seen to be the effect of the group’s established good reputation in their distribution of Ferrari and Maserati at the said countries. Both Ferrari and Maserati are also Italian made performance car brands and Alfa Romeo is an additional offering of the group in Hong Kong and Macau.

This partnership is expected to succeed due to the increased demand for performance cars in the Asian region. The introduction of Alfa Romeo to the Hong Kong and Macau auto market is just the beginning of this relationship since there are also plans to bring the famous Italian car to mainland China.

Richard Lee, the Chairman of China Premium, has this to say about their involvement in the sale of Alfa Romeo vehicles: “When, as a group, we were approached by Alfa Romeo’s management to take up this role, we saw an excellent opportunity to complement our exclusive Ferrari and Maserati franchises with another icon of Italy’s motoring heritage. Alfa Romeo is one of the original manufacturers of performance oriented, classic Italian sports cars. A subsidiary of Fiat Auto SpA, Italy’s automotive manufacturing giant, Alfa Romeo has been completely rejuvenated in recent years, with a fresh image and a range of tremendously exciting new models which are of the highest standards ever produced by the company and priced to appeal to a large segment of potential buyers of sporty European automobiles that is rapidly emerging in greater China.”

The group has already started the sale of the world famous brand in Hong Kong in February of this year according to Mr. Lee. As far as their dedication to their partnership with Alfa Romeo and their sales in the region, he had this to say: “The Alfa Romeo range fits perfectly with our strategy to capitalize on the market for mid-priced sports cars, while maintaining our image as a purveyor of exotic high end motor vehicles. In Hong Kong, our state-of-the-art Alfa Romeo dealership and service center was commissioned in February and inaugurated by Alfa Romeo’s CEO, and sales of the new models, particularly the ‘Brera’ two-door coupe and ‘159’ sedan and station wagon have been encouraging. We are excited about the prospects for Alfa Romeo both in Hong Kong and, ultimately, China.”

With this development, the Asian region looks as if it is ready to be a major hub of European cars. The region once dominated by Asian vehicles like Nissan with their Nissan hubcaps is now slowly opening its doors to other car manufacturer as these car makers see the region as potential strong markets for their products.
